CPD Event on Wound Care

Two CPD sessions on wound care, hosted by wound care experts Dr Althea Carruth and Dr Lea Whittington.

These two sessions will focus on safe practice, referral pathways and complete wound management. Each session will be uploaded to our member website after the event, and we recommend you watch the first ahead of the second.

For attendance at each session you will receive a certificate for one hour, a total of two hours for both sessions. 

Dr Althea Page Carruth PhD. MBA BSc (Hons). DPod M

Originally from Britain where she had a background in NHS management and then education. She came to New Zealand in the early 1990s where she led the Podiatry course as it made its transition from a diploma course to a degree at CIT in Wellington.

She has had many podiatric and health care delivery interests over the years. However, from the beginning of a long career she ran high risk diabetic clinics at Barts Hospital, London and she has maintained her interest in the management of diabetes as a whole and the management of the diabetic foot. Her PhD was focused on diabetes and its management in rural areas which she completed in Australia in 2012.

She is a member of the New Zealand Wound Care Society and, among other positions, is on the Pressure Injury Advisory Group and the Pan Pacific Pressure Injury Alliance representing NZ in the development of the 4th Edition of the International Pressure Injury Guidelines.

She is currently back working in Central Otago where she has a podiatry practice.
