About the Job

Kōrero mō te tūranga – About the role

Capital and Coast DHB is expanding its high risk and acute podiatry service to better meet the increasing demand within the DHB region. The expansion requires experienced podiatrists with the skills and knowledge to provide safe and clinically effective patient assessment and treatment for the management of complex presentations. The podiatrist will work with a small team of podiatrists to provide tertiary podiatry service into outpatient clinics and inpatient settings across the three CCDHB sites – Kenepuru Hospital, Kapiti Health Centre and in Wellington Regional Hospital. They will provide assessment and treatment for high risk feet with active foot disease in patients with diabetes and vascular diseases. The podiatry team sits within the Outpatient Hand therapy, Physiotherapy and Podiatry team within ORA (Older Adults, Rehabilitation & Allied Health) Services and works closely with the Endocrine and Diabetes services.

Mō tō mātou rōpū – About our team

The Podiatry team sits within the Outpatient Hand therapy, Physiotherapy and Podiatry team within ORA (Older Adults, Rehabilitation & Allied Health) Services and will work closely with the Endocrine and Diabetes services. The wider outpatient team includes hand therapists with an occupational therapy background and physiotherapists working in haemophilia, hand therapy, pelvic health, respiratory and musculoskeletal specialties. Our team aims to deliver excellence as part of a team of highly skilled, highly motivated and supportive outpatient clinicians. Experienced podiatrists in this team will be involved in clinical based audits, research and DHB projects. We offer on-going professional development opportunities including targeted team training and formal supervision.

Moū – About you

We are looking for someone who has had at least 3 years of clinical experience with skills and knowledge specific to diabetes and vascular diseases, although we might consider a podiatrist with less experience who has particular interest and/or skills in this area. Experiences in working within a multidisciplinary focus and across a population spectrum will be highly regarded. The person in this role will have the opportunity to work across all three sites, but will be based primarily across two CCDHB sites as needed to meet service requirements.

To apply you must be a NZ Registered Podiatrist with a current annual practicing certificate. Membership of the Podiatry NZ professional association is desirable.
